Sunkist is hosting their annual Short Course Classic September 16 to 18 at the Flowood YMCA.  This is a great meet for our swimmers as we are back in short course season and Flowood is a quick drive away.  Check out the meet invite.  Please let Coach Mixon know by Tuesday, September 6 if you will be  attending and which events you would like to participate in.  Let’s support VSA and bring a big group of Killer Whales to this fun meet.

Makos is hosting their annual Short Course Fall Invitational October 7 – 9 at the Lakeland Courthouse pool. This is another great short course meet for our swimmers as Flowood is just a quick drive from Vicksburg. Check out the meet invite. Please let Coach Mixon know by the end of the day if you would like to attend the 8 & Under State Meet in Cleveland, Mississippi.  Swimmers do not have to qualify to attend this short course meet.  Click on the link to view the invitation.  This is a great opportunity for our young swimmers to prepare for future state competitions.  We need at least 6 swimmers to participate in order for our team to attend.

After a successful Splash and Dash, it is time to sign up for Long Course State Meet.  The LC State Meet will be held Thursday, July 21 to Sunday, July 24 in Cleveland, Mississippi.  Click on the link to view the meet invite.

Warm Up Assignments

It’s time to Splash and Dash for your last chance at a state meet qualifying time.  Vicksburg’s Last Chance Meet is scheduled for Saturday, July 9, 2011.  Warm ups begin at 8 a.m. and the two session meet begins at 9 a.m.  The meet invite can be found under Swim Meet Schedule or by clicking on the link.  All meet entries are due to Coach Mixon by Wednesday, July 6.

Thanks to all of our parent volunteers, swimmers and sponsors for making the 2011 Stamm Family Invitational such a great success!  The Killer Whales rocked the blocks.

Makos is hosting the Long Course Invitational April 29 to May 1 at the Courthouse Racquet and Fitness Club.  Click here to view the meet invitation.  This meet is just a short drive away and we hope to have as many Killer Whales as possible.  If you would like to attend, please email Coach Mixon by Thursday, April 14 which events you would like to compete in or state, “Coach Pick.” 

Congratulations to our State Team Swimmers!  Their dedicated training has paid off.  Tonight our State Team will practice at 6pm and then have dinner with Coach Mixon at 7pm.  The Warm Up/Timer Lanes and Psyche Sheet have been posted.  

Thursday’s competition begins at 6:30pm with warm ups at 5:30pm. 

Competition begins at 9am (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).  VSA will warm up in lanes 1&2 on Friday at 8am, on Saturday at 7:15am, and on Sunday at 8am.  Please see the family timing schedule below.

Let’s remember to support VSA this weekend by wearing our VSA apparel.  On Thursday night wear any VSA t-shirt.  On Friday, swimmers should wear their fabulous new state t-shirts and parents should wear their state t-shirts or whale watcher t-shirts.  Everyone should wear their Swim with Swagger t-shirts on Saturday and on Sunday swimmers should wear their new state shirts and parents should wear their black VSA logo t-shirts.

 The VSA Intra-squad meet is tomorrow, Tuesday, January 25th.  This meet is for White, Black, and Bronze Pods only.  Warm up begins at 5:00pm for all groups.  Please be early.  Silver and Gold Pods need to be there at 5:00 as well to help out.  They will practice at the completion of the Intra-squad meet.  Coach has divided our swimmers into two teams for a little friendly competition. 

There will be a BLACK Team and a WHITE Team.  Please click on the color to view the roster and see what team your swimmer will be swimming for Tuesday night.  If your name is on the list and you know you will not be in attendance, please let Coach Mixon know ASAP!   Coach Emily will be the BLACK team coach and Coach Chris will be the WHITE team Coach.  Team Spirit is strongly encouraged!  To add a little extra incentive for our swimmers, the losing team’s Coach gets pied in the face!  Swim fast so your Coach does not get covered in pie.
